ABOUT US
We welcome all families, in an inclusive environment and offer care for children ages 18 months - 6 years, Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. We are open all year with the exception of Statutory Holidays.
Early Foundations Learning Centre provides high-quality care, positive learning, and the best practices for all children. Our curriculum is guided by ELECT – the Early Learning for Every Child Today Framework. We follow government program expectations that are set out in "How Does Learning Happen", Ontario's pedagogy for the early years.
Through our well-trained and qualified teachers, we strive to provide a safe and developmentally sound environment. Implementing a comprehensive curriculum based on age-appropriate learning activities.
Our staff view the children as being competent, capable, curious and rich in potential. They strive to enhance all levels of development, with programming geared to every developmental stage. Through child- initiated play experiences and their guidance, the children are exposed to challenging educational activities that stimulate:
- a positive attitude towards learning
- decision making capabilities
- problem solving and critical thinking
- interaction with, and respect for, others
- curiosity, initiative and independence
- communication and collaboration skills
- self-care, sense of self and self-regulation skills
- physical activity that develops gross motor skills
- fine-motor development
We will use documentation through observation, planning, reflecting and evaluation and use this as a tool to document children’s learning through their play experiences, as well as sharing information with children and their families.
Our Goals
We strive to provide a supportive, nurturing, and safe environment that encourages further growth of a child's self-confidence, self-esteem, and independence. Our knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated educators use their skills of observation and assessment to plan appropriate experiences for indoor & outdoor play, rest and quiet time. Our staff meet the needs of the group as a whole while remaining focused on the needs of each individual child.
Inspection
Our centre is open for inspection at any time by these organizations: the Ministry of Education, and Public Health Department.
Assessment
Nipissing District developmental screens and progress reports are completed for each child to monitor that the children are meeting developmental milestones. Educators will inform you of how your child is doing regularly.
